RAM GOPAL

Professor at University of Warwick

It is with great pleasure to recommend Prasraban who was a student in my advanced elective class on ‘Data Analytics Using R’. Prasraban is a true ‘all rounder’ – technically highly competent and with strong leadership and communications skills. On the technical side, in addition to my class, he received a grade of A+ in courses on predictive modeling and business process modeling. He has picked up an amazing array of technical analytics skills (R, SAS, SQL, Python, and others) in the program, and impressively worked hard to obtain E-Commerce Analytics and Advanced Google Analytics Certifications from Google. Truly amazing are his efforts to improve his communications and leadership skills. He has served as an Area Director and Club President for the Toastmasters International club at UConn. In this capacity he fine-tuned and honed his communications skills to become an outstanding leader and communicator. In my view, he is the ‘ideal’ student in our program – technically competent and an excellent communicator, who will add significant value to an organization seeking analytics and managerial talent.

Not every person teaches what they are good at nor hand-hold at the right point of time. Prasraban is one such person whom I consider an ‘ideal’ mentor. It was at Toastmasters International where I was asked to face a huge gathering after a long time. I definitely needed to control my anxiety and know what to speak and how. What would an audience like to hear and how would the audience perceive my body language onstage? I needed someone to see, understand and guide me to excel onstage. It was at this time that Prasraban was assigned to me as a mentor. All he did was simple. Be my friend and have the patience to listen to me and then guide me step by step towards perfection. All he did was to make me realize that I needed to be confident of what I am going to speak and look at audience not as a symbol of fear, but opportunity to gain confidence. In less than 6 months I had become a confident person who not just delivered prepared speeches to audience but host events and handle topics on stage impromptu! He was and is an ideal mentor to many when it comes to public speaking or handling oneself in front of a crowd. I strongly recommend Prasraban for mentorship to anyone who needs that one support to explore themselves and take the big step forward onstage.

Being a passionate Toastmaster himself, Prasraban has visited the AIG Toastmasters Club several times. Providing his valuable feedback, he has helped the Toastmasters at AIG improve their skills to a huge extent. Having a fantastic presence onstage, he appealed to the members thus inspiring them hone their leadership and communication skills. His hold over public speaking has been evident throughout his Toastmasters journey. A knowledgeable speaker he’s not only helped the member of our club but also guided the executive committee during various occasions thus enhancing the quality of various meetings. He actively provided us with feedback and was always ready to give presentations and inspirational speeches thus motivating the listeners. He has shown his immaculate skills at our club while delivering quick and crisp presentations on impromptu speaking and building communication for professionals who aspire to communicate and let go of their public speaking fears in their professional careers. He’s a treat to the ears when it comes to delivering speeches. His love for reaching out to an audience is very evident every time he gets on stage.

When I was elected as the Club President for PSN Toastmasters Club, Prasraban was the elected as secretary. The members in the club belonged to diverse communities and age groups. His sharp mind and good sense of humor made him gel quickly with others and understand his roles and responsibilities very fast. His diligent efforts helped in inspiring the club members to progress in their education and leadership tracks and thereby helped the club to win the ‘Golden Gavel Plus Award’ , the highest award a club can win. He also completed CC, CL and ALB within a year. His sharp intellect, quick wit, diligence, sense of humor and friendly nature will help him scale heights both professionally and personally.
